Casa Stella Maris, Caorle, Italy.

The most restless of my nights here. This is an effect of performance (including test-performance): sleep does not naturally follow the main work of a performer’s day, which ends in the nighttime of most people; particularly when followed by discussion.

09.35    Morning Sitting at 07.15.

Breakfast at 08.00. Director Nunez presented the morning’s work, in preparation for this evening’s performance.

An after-breakfast meeting with Dr. Mike, presenting him with the second draft of The Guitar Circle. A wide-ranging discussion followed.

To practising, and a new offshoot and development of the First Secondary Exercise.

10.10    Never be afraid to let go of a good thing.

11.24    Meeting in the Dining-Room-as-Green-Room 10.15, and rehearsing moves between spaces and pieces I…

The time to practice the pieces has gone.

Personal meetings at 11.30.

14.52    Good personal meetings addressing real matters.

Lunch late at 13.10.

Words on The Six Principles Of The Performance Event.
If one were writing a theology of performance, it would begin with the Sixth Principle.

18.08    An afternoon writing the Diary of this course, and personal meetings.

Buffer dinner at 17.30. Exceptionally tasty and satisfying.
An overview of this evening’ s performance arrangements called by Director Nunez.
Brother Francesco has been appointed our bouncer, to deal with unruly elements among public attendees with the force of love.
The announcements regarding recording, photography, viddying were extended to ask for cell-phones to be switched off. One suggestion was that an addition – stick them up your arse! – should be included, and that this announcement would be best coming from Brother Francesco. It was felt that there would be a greater likelihood of this being respected if requested by a member of the Franciscan Order.

The Green Room is open at 20.00.

19.45    A very good personal practising session: the development, extrapolation and variations of the First Secondary exercise.

22.03     In the Green Room, picks were distributed to each member of The Chamber Orchestra Of Crafty Guitarists.
The Announcers were on punctually at 20.30.
Into the Corridor Of Assemblage for a fisting; and strapping on the Procession chords.
Then Processing into the performance space, with the audient section well-arranged and laid out, and full. Four younger men sat on cushions directly in front of the dual performance-horseshoes.
Performance segments:
The Chamber Orchestra Of Crafty Guitarists.
The Guitar Ensemble Of Europe.
The COCG.
The GEE.
The COCG.
The GEE ending with VROOOM and Coda.
A messy end with uncoordinated standing.
A Circulation and leaving the space.
Returning to Whizz – until the world is a better place!
Encore – Schizoid Man by a small group.
More applause: the final encore - Asturias - with a full Team in large single horseshoe.
An unfisting in the Green Room. Dessert called for 22.20.

IMO: the performance was greater than the sum of its parts.

22.58    Superb dessert.
